What do you do when it's raid night and your raid is way short of people? Work on the "less is more" achievements!
I log in last night to find our raid a full group short at a few minutes to raid time. I'm getting myself mentally prepared for the announcement in guild chat that we don't have enough people to raid and that we are calling if off.
Instead the officers decided we'd just try Sartharion and Malygos with 20 people.
We did Sartharion and one drake to make it easier. It added some difficulty but actually made the encounter more fun.
We were able to complete Sarth in one shot and even got an Illustration of the Dragon Soul out of it.
Then we attempted Malygos with 20 but after about 3 attempts we gave up. The DPS kept getting one shot in Phase 2. I believe it had something to do with the fact that we didn't have enough melee dps taking the hover discs, so more of the raid was taking damage from the Scions than usual.
The unfortunate part of this is that we aren't making any progress at all on Sarth +3 drakes, since Weds night seems to be the night that we can't get enough folks. Our GM decided to move Sarth and Malygos to a different day to try and allievate that.
I did already get the Sarth +3 drakes achievement with my former guild, but I would like to do it again and survive to the end this time. :)
I do hope this is just a slump my guild is going through that will be alleviated with Ulduar.
It isn't just because we lost Bigredkitty as a raider this week, though that was a very big loss of our highest dps, this problem of low attendance has been happening since I joined.
Though we all understand why BRK had to quit playing for the time being, I can't help but feel like it put a little dark cloud over our guild, and the blogsophere as a whole.
